6 INGREDIENTS TO AVOID IF YOU HAVE SENSITVE SKIN

Well obviously, skin care routine should be helping your skin not making it worse.
So you need to know what you should be using on your skin.
Everyone out there with sensitive skin have a big problem with skincare routine because something even mildly irritating can set our skin off so I’ve got here ingredients that you need to look out for when buying your next skin care product or trying a home remedy.

These are toxic ingredients found in practically everything: cleansers, moisturizers, toners, exfoliates, creams, and various other cosmetics.

1- Alcohol

Astringents and toners mostly have alcohol in them. Alcohol is very bad for your skin, it can dry out your skin which can sap your moisture levels and cause skin irritation and itchiness plus affect how your skin rejuvenates, so people with sensitive skin… just don’t even try.

2- Fragrance

Did you know that fragrances rank among the top 4 most common allergens when performing the patch-test?
I don’t understand why people still put fragrance in skin care products when they know it can cause allergic reaction. Fragrance in skin care products is just unnecessary so don’t think that a good scented cream or lotion will work better. Scented lotions and creams can react with skin, causing inflammation and weakening the inner layers of skin
When you’re looking for fragrance-free products, make sure to pay attention to “fragrance-free” labels not “unscented” ones. “Fragrance-free” usually means that no additional scents were added to the product, while “unscented” means that an ingredient was added to mask the smell of the product.

3- Lemon juice and citric acid

Lemon juice have bleaching properties so you will see a lot of remedies and products with them, I’m not saying to never use because I use it sometimes on my face and it works good but the problem is the pH of lemon juice is way too low (around a 2 on the scale) meaning it’s too acidic to make it viable for an effective skincare routine. Your skin hovers around a 5.5 on the scale. Anything too high above or too far below isn’t good, so try to use them as less as you can on your skin.

4- Apricot kernels

Tiny granules in your products have an irregular shape which can be very harsh to your sensitive skin. If you have skin that’s easily irritated, using an exfoliator that is too abrasive can cause your skin to be immediately inflamed. Using gentler types less frequently can exfoliate while avoiding any unwanted side effects.

5- Sulfates

Well I think by now everyone would know sulfates are bad for shampoo and they are as well as for you skin. Products which have sulfates in them can cause irritation to skin And yes I do know many many products which we use for skin have sulfates in them but try to avoid them for a while this will make your skin healthier. When buying try to avoid products with sodium laureth sulfate (SLES), and ammonium lauryl sulfate (ALS) They’re simply too drying and they severely disrupt your skin’s natural pH balance which can cause damage to the skin like acne.

6- Chemical sunscreens

Chemical sunscreens have many active ingredients which makes the likelihood of irritating sensitive skin higher. Chemical ingredients (like avobenzone, octinoxate, and oxybenzone) reflect UV rays , which is fine if you have normal skin but can cause problems for sensitive skin. So try finding a mineral sunscreen for yourself.

I hope that next time when you guys buy something for your skin you will keep these ingredients in your mind!

FIND OUT YOUR SKIN TYPE

When finding products for your skin or making a skin care routine plan the most important step is to know what type of skin you have, not all products will suit your skin, you need to find the right ingredients your skin needs. Well yeah, everyone knows what type of skin they have but some people who just started taking their skin seriously wouldn’t have noticed what type their skin is, so if you’re not sure you here’s your guide. The most important step in caring for your skin comes in understanding your specific skin type and how it adapts to certain circumstances or seasonality.
